The Mott Foundation uses three main strategies to build and strengthen the community foundation field: making grants to membership and support organizations, offering fellowship programs for international field leaders, and building a worldwide network of community foundations.
Mott provides direct grant funding to national community foundation associations and support organizations. The Foundation occasionally also provides funding to individual community foundations.
Mott supports the International Community Foundation Fellowship Program run by the Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society at the City University of New York’s Graduate Center.
Mott is a leading funder of the Global Fund for Community Foundations (GFCF). The map below represents countries where GFCF has made grants.
